Chicken Kaali Mirch (Black Pepper)

This is one of the delicious and easiest chicken recipe I have ever come across.

Ingredients (servings for 2)

  • 500 GM’s chicken (boneless or with bone)
  • 4 tbsp of set curd or yogurt
  • 2 tbsp of freshly crushed black pepper
  • 1 tbsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp coriander powder
  • 1 tbsp cumin powder
  • 1/4 tbsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tbsp crushed kasuri methi
  • 3 tbsp of fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup of refined oil (with less flavour)
  • Salt
  • 1/2 fresh cream
  • 3 medium size onion roughly chopped
  • 1 tbsp of ginger garlic paste

Procedure

  1. In non stick pan take 3 tbsp of refined oil and add roughly chopped onions. To onions add some salt and cook them till pink (don’t wait for onions to turn brown).
  2. Ones the onions are done take them out in a plate and keep them aside to cool down for 15 minutes as we have to blend them.
  3. In a mixing bowl take washed chicken. Add set curd, 1/2 tbsp garam masala, 1 tbsp coriander powder, 1 tbsp cumin powder, red chilli powder, 1 tbsp of crushed black pepper, ginger garlic paste, 2 tbsp of refined oil, salt and lemon juice.
  4. Properly cover the chicken with this marination and keep aside for 5 minutes.
  5. Take the same non stick pan in which we cooked the onion. Add 3 tbsp of refined oil and let the pan get completely hot.
  6. When the pan is very hot place chicken pieces and let it cook on high flame for 1 minute and then reduce the flame to medium.
  7. Ones the chicken is cooked from one side, flip the chicken piece to cook the other sides.
  8. When the chicken is cooked from all sides, add the blended onion paste and left over marination.
  9. Let it cook from 3-4 minutes on low flame.
  10. Then add fresh cream, 1/2 tbsp garam masala, 1/2 tbsp of crushed black pepper and kasuri methi.
  11. Cover it and let it cook on low flame for 5 minutes.
  12. Check if the chicken is properly cooked by inserting blunt side of tooth pick in the chicken.
  13. Ones chicken is ready, you can serve it with roti, parantha, chapati.
